CALL FOR
TEACHING ARTISTS
The Arts Center in Orange is looking to create a pool of pre-qualified Teaching Artists to facilitate classes and workshops in our facility and throughout the region with our community partners. Artists across all visual and performing arts mediums are welcome!
WHAT DO TEACHING
ARTISTS DO?
Develop a progressive, skills based, arts curriculum for students of varying ages and abilities
Material Preparation for Class
Provide instruction for classes in accordance with schedule
Clean work space, tools, and collection of all supplies at the end of daily instruction
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS
2-3 yearsʼ experience as an active, practicing artist (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Fine Arts, or similar credentials appreciated)
Knowledge of chosen medium technique
Experience teaching school aged children, adults, and/or other unique populations
Experience working within school programs
Culturally competent and responsible teaching practice
Access to transportation for travel throughout Orange County ( or contiguous counties) to program sites
Depending on the medium, teaching artists must also be able to occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs., and they must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Need accommodations? Teaching Artist applications are reviewed staff at The Arts Center in Orange on a monthly basis. Qualified artists whose skills match current demand for classes will be notified and invited for an in-person interview at The Arts Center in Orange.
Terms of Employment: Teaching Artists are hired as independent contractors per program opportunity.
