ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Arts Center in Orange’s Ceramic Artist in Residence Program, established in 2021, is the only artist residency program in Orange, VA.
Resident selections are based on the quality and artistic merit of the work and the strength of the artist’s residency plan. One artist is selected for residency at The Arts Center each cycle. Applications for residencies beginning in January 2025 will open in September 2024.
APPLICATION INFORMATION
To complete the application, the following information is required:
Personal contact information
Resume (in pdf format)
A residency plan of no more than one page describing your proposed plans for the residency (in pdf format)
Five digital images with descriptions that are representative of your work.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US:
24/7 access to our ceramics studio during the residency period
$500 materials and firing stipend
$4,500 artist honorarium
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
Minimum 5 hours per week of active studio time
Regular participation in monthly Arts Center events
Engagement with students, visitors, and the community, including leading periodic workshops/classes that relate to the artist’s practice
A final presentation summarizing your work during the residency. This could take the form of a public performance, culminating exhibition, or other relevant presentation.
