LINK
Laura Link aims to explore her multicultural background and process emotions associated with memory. Link’s work is heavily influenced by memory, especially her multicultural upbringing and memories of visiting her mother’s family throughout her childhood. Her sculptures are utilitarian in design taking these memories into account, and styled after typical 'female coded' crafts like fiber and needlework. Link continues to explore how these things define oneself and how something so important can be so fragile.
This exhibition is also supported in part by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
