NOELLE
THOMPSON
Noelle Thompson’s practice is deeply rooted in the tactile joy of creating with her hands. Every detail of her work is personally handled, from shaping the clay to the final glaze, reflecting her dedication to craftsmanship. Her inspiration stems from the principles of modernism, where simplicity meets innovation, and functionality is important. She believes pottery should not only be beautiful but also serve a purpose in everyday life, whether it be functionality or as art. When people interact with her pieces, she wants them to feel a spark of excitement and joy, knowing they are holding something thoughtfully designed, high-quality, and built to last.
As a teacher, Thompson strives to ignite creativity and curiosity in her students. Ceramics is a challenging yet deeply rewarding art form, and she encourages her students to embrace the process, including the moments of failure. It is through these challenges that growth and discovery occur. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes creative exploration and personal expression, allowing students to find their own paths to success. While she teaches the foundational techniques of wheel throwing, she also celebrates the diversity of approaches that lead to unique results. Ultimately, her goal is to foster an environment where students feel empowered to experiment, learn, and create with confidence.
