Join us for a free art activity lead by Laura Link, materials, instructions and guidance will be provided for each month’s activity.

This month we will be creating contour portraits. A portrait is a picture of a person. We are going to use wire to create a portrait of a persons face using only contour lines. The purpose of contour lines is to show the nature of a subject rather than details. Artist Agnes Grochulska uses contour lines in her portraits to encourage viewers to fill in the blanks with their imaginations.

Children MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the Free Family Art session.

This is a FREE public program. Please RSVP using form below OR send us an email.

Agnes Grochulska is a contemporary painter working mainly in oils. She also creates drawings in graphite and charcoal. Grochulska studied design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland. She currently resides in Richmond, Virginia.

Her work was exhibited this year at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art
