Free Family Art

  • The Arts Center in Orange 129 E. Main Street Orange, VA USA (map)

Join us for a free art activity lead by Laura Link! Materials, instructions and guidance will be provided for each month’s activity.

This month we draw inspiration from artist Carmen Herrera. Using abstract forms and the color wheel, participants will create simple but striking compositions. By simplifying shapes and choosing a limited color palette, participants will explore what they can make using the mantra ‘less is more’.

Carmen Herrera’s work can be seen at the National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum and Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden—all in Washington, D.C.

Children MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the Free Family Art session. This is a FREE public program. Please RSVP using form below, give us a call at 540.672.7311, OR send us an email.

Laura Link received her BA in Art History, Crisitcism, and Conservation from the University of Mary Washington and her associate’s degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from Germanna Community College. She is The Arts Center in Orange’s current Programs Coordinator, and always looks forward to sharing her skills with the community through art!
